Job Sites in London, Ontario

I've lived in London for a long time, arriving here first as a recent University graduate looking for a job, then going back to school, and once again becoming familiar with all of the different websites that exist for the London job hunter.

It is now even harder to find a job in this city given the rise in our unemployment rate, so I thought I would write a blog with all of the job sites that I know in this city.

I'm sure there are tons more out there, so feel free to post them in the comment section below.

Job Sites

Knighthunter

This is probably the first place that I look for jobs in this city. It is specifically designed for London, and the jobs come in all different skill sets.

Job Bank

I find that a lot of people over look job bank, or simply don't know about it. It is a government site that has tons and tons of jobs on it.

Indeed

This is a search engine for job hunters. A pretty brilliant idea, it actually crawls tons of sites, getting you jobs from this region that aren't posted other places.

Charity Village

Interested in working for a not for profit? Charity Village is specifically designed for helping those that want to work in this area.

Work Cabin

Want an environmental job? Why not use the website designed by local web design company rTraction, Work Cabin. Create a profile and use that to apply to a multitude of environmental jobs.

Good Work Canada

Once again, this is a site designed for people looking for jobs to do with the environment. The range is pretty crazy from organic farming, to communications for the World Wildlife Fund.

Workopolis / Monster.ca

You can't overlook the big players when it comes to finding a job. Workopolis and Monster both have tons of jobs posted, although they are typically from the same companies. Still, can be a very good resource.

Social Media

Twitter

Never thought social media would help you find a job? Well, I've got new for you, companies routinely post job opportunities on their Twitter feeds. Larger companies like Google, and RIM even have specific accounts for posting jobs.

You don't have to be posting on Twitter to use it, simply create an account, and follow companies you might be interested in working in.

Linked In

Staying with the social media idea, Linked In is specifically designed for professionals looking to connect, and also to find jobs. You can actually search for a job, and then use your profile to apply for a it. When the recruiter views your profile you receive a notification to let you know that you are being considered. Pretty brilliant.

Industry Organizations

I know for my background IABC is a great group for anyone to be involved with that is in the communications field.

There are tons of other groups out their for your specific skill set as well be it the HRPA or any other organization.

Networking Organizations

In addition to industry organizations, there are also things like Emerging Leaders and Young Professionals Group designed to try to keep local talent in London.
